WES Griffiths says his Halesowen side must not lose focus as the prepare to mount a promotion charge.
A superb month of June has catapulted Hales to fourth in Birmingham League Division Two and well placed to make an assault on the top two.
Griffiths is delighted with their form but has warned they cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal.
And he believes they must be on their guard for this Saturday’s game with lowly Eastnor - who themselves have hit good form.
He said: “We’re having a great time at the moment and momentum seems to be with us.
“The good thing is all our bowlers are taking wickets and standing up when it counts, while our batting has gone well so far.
“I think we have found a formula which is working for us and the arrival of Asif Khan has also been a big help.
“But we can’t allow ourselves to get complacent. We had a poor start to the season so in many ways we are still playing catch-up.
“We certainly can’t afford to under-estimate a team like Eastnor. They may be near the bottom but they are actually one of the form sides and have beaten good teams.” It was the bowlers who did the damage for Hales on Saturday at Stratford as Dan Jeavons (3-30), Phil Croft (3-48) and Andy Roberts (3-16) tore through the home batsmen to send them tumbling to the tea interval all out for 110.
In reply, a timely 20 from Asif Khan at number four and an assured, unbeaten 62 from opener Hassan Qaumi saw them home by seven wickets.
Griffiths added: “Hassan’s innings was the best I have seen him play.
“He has really grown in stature this season and is starting to get the runs we know he can.”
