STOURBRIDGE Social continued their impressive form with a commanding eight wicket victory over Martley.
Bowling first, they got off to the perfect start when Daniel Mayfield and James Basford both fell for low scores. Martley regained some control via an impressive century stand for the third wicket between Patrick Bibby and Lewis Bridges.
But once Bibby was caught by Simon Fisher off the bowling of Sakib Ali for 75, they offered little resistance. Bridges departed in the following over for 41 and no other batsmen reached double figures in a total of 169. Ali finished with figures of 4-25 and Mellor 2-27.
After the interval, Social recovered from the early loss of Fisher through a steady half-century partnership by Ian Hatton and Milner.
Milner went for 31 as Martley looked to exert pressure on Social’s middle order. However, no further wickets fell as Ali and Hatton increased the run rate with a superb partnership which saw them reach the winning target inside 29 overs.
