CAUSEWAY United go into the big FA Cup preliminary round tie at home to Leek Town on Sunday with a full squad and a good spirit.
United are still unbeaten in the Midland Alliance after what boss Carl Burley saw as an excellent point at one of the title favourites Westfields on Monday.
Despite goalkeeper Tom Turner being sent off on just 13 minutes and forward Carl Hind going in goal, the visitors took the lead through Danny Jones and were only pegged back three minutes from time.
The result followed a 1-0 win at Dunkirk and Causeway, who go into a two week break from league action, have secured three wins and 12 points from six games so far, all away from home.
Boss Carl Burley called the performance at Westfields ‘superb’ and said everybody at the club is looking ahead to the game against the former FA Trophy finalists, who play in the Northern Premier League Division One South , one level above Causeway.
He said: “It was a great performance at Westfields and I really think if we had ten men on the field we would have gone on to win the game.
“Carl Hind was excellent in goal as was the likes of Darren Whitley and all the defenders who shielded him and it was a real bombardment after they equalised but we managed to hold out.
“The belief and team spirit is very high after the start to the season we have had and it said a lot on Monday that we had two players suspended and two players away.
“Against Leek we have a full squad and it should be an interesting game .
“In a lot of people’s eyes this would be one tie where a shock might be on the cards because they haven’t had the best of starts but they are a level above and are a big club so it is going to be tough.
“I’m pleased for the players to be able to play in the FA Cup in front of what will hopefully be a decent crowd and it is a good opportunity for them to forget about the league for a bit and test themselves.
“We can have no better incentive for beating Leek than putting £1,500 in the club coffers and a home tie against opposition from our league against Tipton or Highgate to come.”
The game is at Stourbridge FC on Sunday at 3pm.
