A SUPERB all-round display saw Stourbridge Social earn a crushing win at Himbleton in Worcestershire League Division Three.
Having won the toss, captain Richard Milner elected to bat first and in partnership with Oliver Stevens, got his side off to a blistering start.
The skipper was in particularly devastating form, regularly dispatching Himbleton’s bowlers to the boundary as he raced to his 50 inside of 10 overs.
Smart fielding led to Stevens being run out for 51 but this could not stop the flow of runs as Milner continued to build partnerships with Michael McDonagh (24) and Ikram Mussadaq (33).
His stunning innings of 139 was finally brought to an end through the bowling of Jem Rose, leaving the Social lower-order free to express themselves in the final few overs with Waqas Ahmed hitting 43 as the visitors posted 357-9.
Any hopes the home side had of chasing the target were soon eradicated as Ahmed quickly dismissed the top-three with the score only on 30.
Luke Brace and Rose attempted to steady the ship but with runs proving hard to come by, Mussadaq removed the latter for 18. With the momentum firmly in Social’s favour they turned to the leg-spin of Ibrar Yusaf (4-24) who brought an end to Brace for 24 as they all out for 123. Social will now hope to continue their good form they travel to Birlingham.
