FOR the second year in succession, an annual memorial 5km run over the Clent Hills is raising money to support the children of the village special school.

Cobra Running and Triathlon Club, based in Halesowen, will donate the proceeds of its Mark Perry Memorial event to Sunfield, a residential special school for children with complex needs including autism.

The yearly run is hosted in honour of Mark, a former member of the club who died in a tragic accident after a night out in 2009.

Paul Connor, club member and a friend of the late father-of-three, said: “Mark was an inspirational runner who raced from 5km to 100 miles and then went looking for bigger challenges.”

Speaking about this year’s memorial run, Paul added: “It’s a testing course of varying undulation but ideal for both runners and walkers. This year we hope to welcome over 100 participants.”

Taking place on Sunday, September 25, the race starts at 11am from The Hill Tavern Pub, in Adam’s Hill, Clent.
