TIME is running out for youngsters to put pen to paper to create an opening chapter to their very own Sarah Jane adventure.
Libraries across the borough are inviting children and young people, aged seven and and over, to write a 500-word introduction to their very own adventure story for Doctor Who’s most popular companion.
The closing date for submitting stories, which must include one of Sarah Jane’s young friends, is less than two weeks away - so youngsters are urged to get writing over the coming days for a chance to win a signed photograph of the actors who play Luke, Clyde and Rani in the popular BBC children’s programme, The Sarah Jane Adventures.
Councillor David Simms, Dudley’s cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said: “All council-run libraries are running this exciting writing competition which encourages young people to be creative and write their own Sarah Jane adventure.”
The competition has been organised by Dudley libraries, Dudley youth positive activities and citizenship scheme and funded by West Midlands Police’s building blocks grant.
Entries - which should include the writer’s name, aged and school - should be handed in at any borough library by Friday January 7 2011.
The winners, including runners-up, will be contacted by Friday January 21 2011.
