DUDLEY borough gave a massive thumbs-down to the Alternative Vote in yesterday’s national referendum.
Results from counts around the region which began at 4pm today (Friday May 6) show turnouts in the borough’s four parliamentary constituencies ranged from 36 to 40 per cent and each area overwhelmingly said no to AV.
Dudley North and Stourbridge both rejected a change in the way the nation elects Westminster MPs by majorities of more than 13,500.
Dudley South was close behind, saying no by a majority of 12,133 and Halesowen and Rowley Regis also kicked the scheme into the long grass, by a margin of 8,668.
