MILITARY heroes from across the borough will be celebrated at an annual bash for members of the armed forces next month.
Dudley Council is organising the free event taking place at Himley Hall on June 26.
There will be a military band concert in the grounds of the historic hall, a display of military vehicles, plus an exhibition of wartime history at the event - which will also include a climbing wall, scramble nets and other activities for all ages.
Veterans will also be presented with HM Armed Forces Veterans Badges by the Mayor of Dudley during the event.
New Mayor of Dudley, councillor Michael Evans, said: “This is an opportunity to celebrate everyone connected to the armed forces and the hugely valuable work they do. That could be people who used to serve, as well as those from more recent conflicts around the world.
“Last year’s event was a huge success, and I am sure this year’s event will be a fantastic occasion.”
Visitors can also take along a picnic to enjoy on the lawns of the park.
There will also be chance to talk to armed forces members about their work - and information on support and advice in the community will be available to servicemen and women.
The event will kick off with the military band concert from 2.30pm and will conclude with afternoon tea in Himley Hall (veterans and armed forces members only).
Before the event, a marching band competition will take place in the hall grounds - and the bands will later perform the beating of the retreat ceremony at the Armed Forces Day event.
HM Armed Forces Veterans Badges are available to people who have served in HM Armed Forces.
Anyone who thinks they are entitled to one of the badges can contact the Service Personnel and Veterans Agency, Norcross, Thornton-Cleveleys, Lancashire, FY5 3WP; Freephone 0800 169 2277 or email SPVA-VeteransBadges@mod.uk Anyone who has already received one of the badges but has not had it formally presented to them can call Dudley Council on 01384 815201 to be part of the ceremony.
Other veterans and serving armed forces personnel interested in attending the celebration event are also asked to contact the council on the same number.
