STOURBRIDGE and Halesowen branch of Age Concern is gearing up for its biggest fundraiser of the year.
The charity which helps provide care, support and information for the borough’s elderly is holding its annual Summar Gala on Saturday June 25.
Bosses hope the fun day will pull in plenty of extra pounds towards running costs and showcase services available for the over 50s at the Elton and Mary Stevens Centres in Stourbridge.
Chief officer Dionne Legge said: “All our fundraising events are important but the Summer Gala is historically our biggest fundraiser of the year and also it raises awareness of what we do which is always very important.”
The event will be held at the charity’s HQ at the Mary Stevens Centre off Hagley Road, Oldswinford, and it will be officially opened by Stourbridge MP Margot James at 11am.
Attractions at the bash, which runs until 4pm, will include ‘have a go’ competitions, an auction, dance demonstrations, archery, the RAF ATC marching band and broadcasts by Dudley Hospital Radio.
There will also be a barbecue plus a host of stalls selling plants, toys, jewellery and cakes.
The charity works to help elderly people across the borough enjoy wellbeing and good health and to fight discrimination and unfair treatment.
