THE brother-in-law of boat tragedy victim Richard Perry from Brierley Hill has raised £128 for the RNLI by completing a charity walk.
Stuart Smith, a 35-year-old electronics engineer from Quarry Bank, walked the 26-mile route of the Dudley Trail last month to pull in the pounds in memory of 28-year-old Richard who lost his life, along with 20-year-old Heather Harris from Stourbridge, in a speedboat accident on the Isle of Wight in 2007.
Richard’s sister Rebecca Perry-Smith said: “Stu found the walk pretty tough as he hadn't prepared at all.
“But we are really keen to keep Richard’s memory alive and if we can raise money for such a worthwhile cause at the same time that is great. We’d like to thank everyone for their ongoing support.”
The families of both Richard and Heather have staged a series of fundraisers for the RNLI since the tragedy four years ago.
