The Inner Wheel Club of Brierley Hill met for their monthly meetings in April and May.
We have recently contributed to the earthquake appeals through the Red Cross.
We have sent off three parcels of small knitted baby clothes to the children’s hospital in Menali in the Himalayas, where they are in great need due to the cold weather coupled with the hard lives which many of the people lead.
We welcomed Ken Goodman to our April meeting, who gave us a fascinating talk on old fashioned medicines, which is one of a number of historical subjects which he is passionate about.
Early in May he held a craft fair and historical day in support of cancer research at the White House in Dudley.
During our May meeting we welcomed our Overseas District Chairman who discussed the interesting locally sustainable work in schools and cookery and poultry projects which Aid to Africa is involved in in Zimbabwe, Kenya and Tanzania, with plans to go into Nepal, using the local knowledge and expertise of an ex Ghurkha.
We aim to attend the car boot sale at Stourbridge Rugby Club on Wednesday May 18th.
In order to raise money for further charities and, judging by our last visit there, we will enjoy ourselves hugely and make some money at the same time.
