Clent Mothers Union
In spite of a few absences, the October meeting was well attended. It was lovely to be able to welcome Mary Chapman and Jean Oliver (both of whome have been poorly), and also some new faces (Millie Steele and Nigel).
Following our short time of worship, Leader Anne Harris gave out several notices for members.
On behalf of members, Anne thanked Jan Woolley and Dinah Davies for oganising the Fish & Chip lunch to be delivered following the talk.
Anne introduced our speaker, Gwen Taylor, whose talk was entitled a Celebration of Faith in Women. Gwen’s talk covered many women famous for their faith and courage, starting with women in the Bible and throughout history – Mother Julian of Norwich, Mother Theresa of Calcutta and Corrie Ten Boom among them. The underlying rule for all these women and others like them was “to give thanks in all circumstances” 1.Thess 5:18
Anne thanked Gwen for her talk and presented her with a flowering plant.
The Fish & Chip lunch arrived on time and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.
The November meeting on the 2nd should be very interesting, about Hearing Dogs for the Deaf.
Christmas is fast approaching and we take this opportunity to print a letter received after last Christmas, the contents of which are self-explanatory. NB. Committee Members are requested to attend at 12 noon on 2nd November for a meeting prior to the branch meeting.
