Kingswinford Ladies Social Circle
The ladies met for the last meeting before the summer break, on July 5, at The Royal British Legion, Kingswinford. Chairman Sheila Evans greeted everyone and business matters were read, approved and signed.
There will be a Christmas lunch at The Beacon Centre for the Blind but no date has been fixed.
The trip to Trentham will take place on July 26.
The ladies were reminded to take plates and cutlery for the harvest supper on September 6 and a gift for the harvest table. All produce will be auctioned off the money to be donated to a charity.
The entertainers were Ian Dempsey – Robins and Will Morgan. Both men played the guitar
and Will sang the songs, which ranged from folk songs, sad songs, and some risqué in the
style of Jake Thackery. There was one mournful song about a Jew who lost his family in World War II.
This was reflected in the poignant Jewish music accompanying the song. There was much hilarity when the audience participated in the choruses.
When asked to play one final song Ian accompanied Will by playing his accordion.
It was a superb evening and the perfect end to the summer programme.
Kath gave the vote of thanks and raffle prizes were won.
There will be no meeting until the Harvest Supper.
