The club at their May meetings welcomed Paul Carter editor of Village voice and Pat Hodgson of RBS organiser of Thomas Gardener Cycle Challenge.
Reports were given from committees, including the Easter Basket Raffle held in the Ryemarket which was won by Mrs C Bache. The Charity Concert for the elderly was attended by over 600 people with entertainment being provided by Tommy Mundon Maggie O’Hara and Beg Pegg.
Other events attended with the catering van were May Madness,at the Ridgewood High School and the Midnight Walk organised by Mary Stevens Hospice The annual Charter celebration was held at Hagley Golf Club attended by 90 members and guests. The main toast was proposed by Lion President Rob Owen who emphasized work carried out over the year, the reply was given by District Governor Martin Bye who congratulated the club on its service to Lions International and the local community.
Vice President Mike Blaxland gave the toast to Ladies and Guests which was replied to by Lion Peter Miller Mayor of Dudley who considered it an honour to be associated with the Club.
The Presidents Cup was awarded to Lion Mary Thompson for her work as Caravan Catering organiser.
Mr Pat Hodgson spoke in connection with The Thomas Gardener Cycle Challenge when members of RBS and fellow professionals from the City of Birmingham will attempt a ride from coast to coast in aid of the appeal and thanked the club for allowing them to use our web site to facilitate donations .Further details are available on the Lions Website kandslions.org.uk The club meets on the 2nd and 4th Monday each month and would welcome anyone interested to attend.
