The chess season has now come to an end and competitive play will resume in September. Throughout the summer the chess club continues to meet on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm at the Stourbridge institute.
Stourbridge Chess Club is holding a program of events throughout the Summer. These allow existing members to stay match fit and prospective members to come along and get to know the club.
The club’s summer tournament starts on June 15 with one round every 2 weeks. The tournament is based on the Swiss pairing system so all players can play in all rounds.
Players are also allowed to take 2 half point byes in case they need to miss a round because of holidays.
The rounds will be held on June 15, and 19;July 13 and 27 and August 10.
The club’s informal annual dinner will be held on June 16 at the Crabmill.
On July 6 there will be a friendly match against Halesowen with a raffle and buffet supper.
