The March meeting, incorporating the AGM and chaired by Julie Willetts, was reasonably well attended by 36 members. After the numerous apologies were read, a minutes silence was observed for the passing of Vi Morgan, a founder member of Wollaston Guild.
The minutes of the fiftieth AGM was held on March 14 were read and signed as a true record. It was announced that the present committee would be standing in 2018/19 and that their job details would be confirmed at the next guild meeting.
The secretary, Sue Ward, gave a comprehensive report on all our sections, covering a number of interesting activities. Treasurer Margaret Gregory then gave a detailed account of the years finances which were duly proposed and seconded. It was stated that the same auditor will continue for the coming year.
The Guild's local rules were read by Hazel Needham. This was followed by the chairman's remarks, that it had been a successful and rewarding year for the guild.
She thanked the committee for their help and support and expressed the hope that new members would come forward to swell numbers in the future.
The Bowls Shield was presented to Glenys Allen and the Competitions Cup to Pat Archer. Photographs were taken by the Ann Powell Agency.
Twenty two members had an enjoyable meal at the Birmingham College of Food recently. Names were taken for the annual dinner on May 2. Details were given regarding the federation's annual lunch at the Copthorne Hotel on July 13. Members are also urged to participate in the annual quiz on May 13.
Raffle prizes went to Sandra Oliver, Julie Walton and Elizabeth Grove.
