The meeting of the Guild took place on April 16 and opened with an announcement from the Chair, Wendy Lloyd, to let members know one of the Committee, Barbara Taylor, had died on April 8. Barbara had always booked seats at shows and will be missed by the membership.
The Chair reminded members of the fire drill and obtained agreement for the March Minutes to accepted and signed. The treasurer had a copy of her report and welcomed members to look at it if they wished.
Ann Birchell, Vice Chair, announced that we had four members for our quiz team and that if any one wishes to go along as an observer we have to let the Federation know by April 27. Members were reminded about the Annual Lunch taking place at the Copthorne on July 30. We are still waiting to learn who the speaker will be.
Members were told that we are still looking for a volunteer to welcome new members and make them feel comfortable.
Attention was drawn to two advertisements for shows at Dudley Town Hall but members were advised they would have to obtain their own tickets from the box office at the Town Hall.
The speaker Derek Walker then took the floor and planted a number of hanging baskets which the members then had the opportunity to purchase together with plants. Liz Hubbard gave a vote of thanks to Derek for his presentation which we had all enjoyed and learnt from.
The next meeting of the Guild will be on May 21 when the speaker is Kath Reynolds who is giving a talk about 'Watch with Mother'. Visitors are always welcome to come along to the meeting at the Wordsley Community Centre and the charge is £3.
