Our last meeting was held at Wordsley Community Centre on April 18, on a nother lovely spring day. The usual business formalities ensued and it was noted that Federation are once more planning a lunch event at The Mill, Alveley and hoping to attract the usual number of Guild members to attend.
Future events include an inter- Guild quiz in November and the annual Carol Service in December.
Barbara Gregory, in the chair, thanked Pat Caddick for organising our Birthday Lunch, which was well attended. Pat announced that the next Lunch Club meeting would be at The Lawnswood on May 9.
The next Garden Coffee Morning will be held at Wendy Lloyd's on May 25 and Pat Hadley asked for more volunteers - Margaret Ford will do July 13 and Pat Caddick in August (date TBA).
We were treated to a number of Easter eggs as raffle prizes. to the winners' delight.
The speaker was Mr A Bracka, who amazed us with his knowledge of orchids.
It appeared that perfumed ones were his primary interest and it was intriguing to learn of the way some orchids have adapted to attract pollinators to them, not only with their beautiful colours and smell, but also by modifying their petal shapes etc. Mr Bracka had brought some examples for us to admire and learn how to care for them.
Our next meeting will be on Monday May 16 at Wordsley Community Centre.
