THIS week, Supreme Court published its judgment on what needs to be done before the Government can begin the formal process of withdrawing from the EU. It was a mixed result for the Government.

While the headlines were dominated the Court’s decision that Parliament must pass a specific law authorising the Government to trigger Article 50, perhaps more significant was the unanimous ruling that the Scottish Parliament and the National Assemblies in Wales and Northern Ireland cannot block Brexit.

That means that a short Bill will be published this week, and the first vote in the House of Commons could come as early as next week.

As many of you will know, I was the only Black Country MP to back Brexit in last year’s referendum and my view is that Parliament has a duty to enact the decision taken by voters last June.

But what do you think? Email me at mike@mikewood.mp and tell me if you think I should vote to trigger Article 50.

I’ve recently met with the new Executive Head teacher of Summerhill School. Having listened to Mr Bowkett and seen his plans and vision for the school I’m absolutely convinced that the School will return to being one of the outstanding schools in Dudley.

Since I was elected, I have visited every primary, secondary and special school in Dudley South. It’s clear that we are lucky to have some of the very best and most inspirational head teachers leading our local schools.

News broke this week that Dudley Council will no longer be looking to charge schools for manned crossings.

Whilst pleased that the pressure from schools, parents and local Councillors has been successful, this is a policy that should never have been proposed in the first place.

My next Trip to Westminster on Thursday 23rd February is almost full.

Therefore anyone wishing to enjoy a trip to if you live in Dudley South should contact my constituency office.

Tours are free-of-charge and I can arrange them on most weekdays when the House of Commons is sitting. I also organise coach trips to Westminster so that more people can see Parliament in action. Coach tickets cost £20 each. The next tour where coach tickets are available is for Thursday 30th March.

Finally, I am running a contest to find the best South Asian restaurant in Dudley South. This is part of a national competition held each year in Parliament.

As the MP for Dudley South I nominate a restaurant and hopefully they can reach a regional final - or better.

Do you have a favourite curry house that you think should be nominated?
