A QUESTION to those who have revamped (or should I say retrashed?) our bus services. When was the last time any of you travelled on public transport?
Since and even before the introduction of these (improved?) and revised services, there have been numerous complaints from the most affected. But, as so often with public opinion, they have been ignored, with the result that the powers that be have been forced to review the whole situation. In actual fact this review was considered before the change began (reviewing a problem before it happens? That's got to be a first!).
Certainly the withdrawal of certain buses has caused a great deal of stress and inconvenience to many people. How can you call a service improved when it results in passengers having to; 1. Use two buses instead of one to reach their destination. 2. Walk part of their journey because there's no longer a bus covering all their route. 3. Get up earlier for work due to time alternatives, thus causing an upheaval in domestic arrangements. 4. Get home later at night due to a combination of the above. I could go on but suffice it to say that all this upset could have been avoided if things had been left as they were. What was wrong with the old system anyway? One suggestion (with service 261) was that this bus was not viable due to a death of passengers... strange then, that when a protest meeting was arranged, extra seats had to be hastily provided to accommodate the throng! Saving money seems to be Centro's prime objective. What about customer satisfaction? I think they need to get their priorities right!
