LAST week's front page in the Stourbridge News "Ban Plan" concentrates hard on hitting the shoppers for parking in the high street.

This plan has been conceived by Dudley Council who takes over the management of parking on public roads, the article also mentions that the ban on parking in the high street will enable traffic to flow. These measures are to work in conjunction with the new parallel route.

Dudley Council approved the new parallel route and sadly has not thought too much about parking facilities for the shopper.

The car park alongside St Mary's Church has been reduced, the pay and display car park adjacent to the Concorde Centre has disappeared, car parking has been reduced at Dixons/Barneys, the Concorde Centre and the car park at Cottage Street.

Pay and display parking at Little Cottage Street house has been removed. ASDA car park, Scallywags and the pay and display in Level Street have all seen a reduction in spaces.

All these spaces have been lost due to the construction of the new parallel road. How shortsighted of Dudley Council to not provide car parking for the spaces lost.

Sadly if I can not park and walk into Brierley Hill I will not be shopping there, is Dudley Council wanting shoppers to stay away due to lack of car parking?
