I NOTICED something curious while in the Park recently – that one of the groups of youngsters of the night before, instead of strewing their litter around on the grass as normal (and thus befouling the land in a manner in which no animal ever would), had actually placed it neatly into a cardboard box before thus foisting it upon a captive and unwilling public.

I was unable to work out whether this was indicative of improved social awareness on their part, as demonstrated by a ‘reformed’ attitude to littering, or were we rather witnessing the last vestiges of an orderly upbringing, being dissipated and squandered during the final stages into adulthood.

I really could not make up my mind.
