I AM writing regarding your heartwarming article and photo, “Home is found at last for Jaffa”, June 8, 2011.
Kudos to Martin and Barbara Allchurch, to Marion Fisher and to all at Dudley Animal Rescue.
Felicitations to handsome Greyhound Jaffa. He has transitioned to a well-deserved new life in a loving home and is certain to be adored by all.
The public has become increasingly aware of the cruelty inherent in greyhound racing. We cannot fathom our dogs enduring abysmal, nearly endless confinement in small, stacked cages day in and day out, or being let out to race to face the risk of injury and death. We cannot imagine valuing our dogs only if they are generating a profit.
Dogs play an important role in our lives and deserve to be protected from industries that cause them harm. I have personally adopted gentle, beloved ex-racing greyhounds since 1997, and I am a board member of GREY2K USA, a national non-profit organization that works to end the cruelty of dog racing.
