GARY Hackett says Stourbridge must have their attitude right for Saturday’s FA Cup second qualifying round tie at Blaby & Whetstone Athletic.
The Glassboys will start as clear favourites to see off the East Midland Counties Premier side.
But Hackett warned that Blaby’s wins over Stratford Town and Tipton Town in two previous rounds have shown they are not a side to be taken lightly.
“We have had Blaby watched but they are a bit of an unknown quantity. But it’s like the tie in the last round at Market Drayton. We have got a job to do and if our attitude is right we should win the game. We know what’s at stake.”
Stourbirdge will though be without striker Luke Benbow after he tore his hamstring in the 1-0 home defeat to Curzon Ashton on Saturday, Niall Cummins getting the only goal in the 27th minute.
“Luke will be out for four to six weeks,” said Hackett. “It’s a different injury to the one that has been affecting him recently and we’re hoping rest will ease that.
“We weren’t at our our fluent best last Saturday but on another day I think we may have got a point and would have deserved one, but credit to Curzon they defended very well in the second half.”
- Former Glassboy Andy Bullingham has stepped into the role of vice-chairman. He replaces Ian Pilkington who will remain on the board.
Chairman Andy Pountney said “I would like to place on record my thanks to Ian for everything he has contributed as chairman and vice chairman over the last 15 years. He has played a major part in moving the club forward over the past few years after some very desperate times several years ago, I am sure he will continue to work hard and support us all behind the scenes.
“At the same time I am delighted to have Andy Bullingham on board, I am sure his business acumen and knowledge of football will continue to help move the club forward.”
