LYE Town's lovely run of form continued this week with a slender 1-0 success at AFC Wulfrunians.

The result means Lye have now won 10 of their last 11 games, a sequence which is rapidly taking them back up the Midland League table.

But Lye have little chance to rest on their laurels as their fixtures come thick and fast.

They are due to host Walsall Wood tonight in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final.

Lye then entertain bottom side Continental Star at Stourbridge Road on Saturday before visiting another relegation threatened side Barden Hill the following Thursday.

Spokesman Brian Blakemore said: "With so many games arriving so quickly we will probably have to utilise the squad. But make no mistake, we want to finish as high as we can and it would be great to lift some silverware as well "Walsall Wood are a decent side and we are taking nothing for granted. We expect two hard games."

Lye have an extra incentive to reach the final as Hereford contest the other semi-final against Stourport Swifts.

Blakemore has also been quick to praise the contribution made by loan players Ryan Rowe and Ben Billingham.

Rowe has been in a rich vein of form in front of goal netting six times in his past three games.

He netted a hat-trick in the 7-3 success over high flying Highgate United and then struck two more in the 3-0 win at Heanor Town.

Rowe then duly rattled home the only goal against Wulfs as well and Blakemore claimed: "Their presence has obviously helped us as they are quality players . Having them at Lye has also helped the other players to raise their game."

However Lye have injury problems as Jack Pearlman, Dan Flower and Scott Gennard could all be ruled out for the remainder of the season.
