GLASSBOYS boss Gary Hackett is set to dip into the transfer market as his side’s injury woes continue.

The Amblecote outfit succumbed to a 0-0 draw at home to Mickleover Sports on Saturday, but the point could prove costly as Hackett lost both Stuart Pierpoint and Richard Sho-Silva to knocks before the first half was out.

The defensive duo will join Chris Lait, who will be missing for the rest of the season, and centre-back Jack Duggan – awaiting the results of a scan – on the treatment table.

Hackett said he has already made a couple of approaches to bring players into the club as cover, but will have to “wait and see which moves come off”.

Despite having to spend most of the first half on Saturday having to rearrange his depleted back line, the boss was disappointed that his side could not take the numerous chances which fell their way.

He said: “Mickleover are quite a dangerous side. They have some very good players and defended well, but we still created more than enough chances to win the game.

“We were not at our best, but if we’re not going to win the game then we have to make sure we don’t lose it, and come away with a least a point.

“We did pick up a few injuries, Pierpoint pulled up in the warm up and Sho-Silva picked up a hamstring half-way through the first half.

“So it wasn’t the easiest of games as we spent the first half trying to patch up the defence, so it is great that after all of that we were able to keep a clean sheet.

“I am a little disappointed that we didn’t take all three points, but we did have a tough game at Halesowen on Tuesday night which possibly had an effect on the players.”

Glassboys now face a trip to Cumbria to take on Workington this Saturday, before welcoming Ilkeston to the War Memorial Ground on Monday night (7.45pm kick off).

Hackett, who watched his side take apart Workington during a 5-0 victory at home in November, is not expecting a similar whitewash this time out.

“Our preparation is going well and we will treat it like any other game,” he added. “But we are going up on Friday night as it’s such a long journey.

“When they played us earlier in the season they caught us at a time where we were particularly hot and everything was going for us.

“But they are on the fringes of the play-offs and will see the game as a good opportunity to move up a few places.”
