WINGER Devarn Green has left Stourbridge to sign for National League side Tranmere Rovers for an undisclosed fee.
Devarn, 21, joined us towards the end of September from our Evo-Stik Premier rivals Hednesford Town and made six appearances for the Glassboys.
He showed great promise in his brief spell but the former Blackburn Rovers youngster has now moved on after Tranmere came in for him.
The Wirral outfit, currently 16th in the National League, have paid an undisclosed fee to the club for Green’s services.
Glassboys boss Gary Hackett said: “Devarn is somebody we watched while he was at Hednesford and he heard good things about Stourbridge and wanted to join us.
“It’s taken a major club like Tranmere to coax him away and to be fair to them, they’ve been very good with us.
“Good luck to Devarn. He’s been great to have around the place in his short spell with us and he's got great ability.”
Devarn becomes the second Stour player this week to join a National League side after striker Jordan Archer’s move to Chester.
It's been a busy few days at the War Memorial Ground with a second departure but two new arrivals.
Kyle Perry and Aaron Birch have linked up with the Glassboys whilst Danny O’Callaghan has moved on.
Experienced striker Perry joins from Barwell and midfielder Aaron arrives from another one of Stour's Evo-Stik Premier rivals in Sutton Coldfield Town.
Perry, 31, rose to fame ten years ago when he helped Chasetown get to the FA Cup Third Round and subsequently earned a move to Port Vale.
After a season with the Valiants, he moved on to Mansfield Town and has since played for a number of Non-League sides including Lincoln City, Nuneaton Town, Altrincham and Hednesford Town.
He was Stafford Rangers’ top scorer last season in the Evo-Stik Premier and has spent the last two months with Barwell.
Birch, who featured for Stour in pre-season prior to the 2015-16 campaign, has captained Sutton Coldfield Town this season at the age of 22 after joining them in December 2016.
On the two signings, Hackett added: “Aaron had a trial with us a couple of years ago but at that time he wasn’t physically ready. He did tremendously well at Hereford and had Football League scouts watching him.
“Aaron has been Sutton’s best player this season. He’s a clever footballer and I think he’ll be a big bonus for us. He’s comfortable on the ball and is looking to chip in with goals.
“Kyle gets a lot of stick from opposition fans because they recognise what he does on a football pitch.
“In terms of being a a target man, a link man, he’s as good as anything around. He’s a great character on and off the pitch."
Midfielder Danny O’Callaghan, meanwhile, has departed and is expected to re-sign for his old club Sutton Coldfield Town.
