Gornal Athletic’s Garden Walk Stadium will be gripped by cup fever this Saturday (3pm kick off) when they take on Southam United in their much-anticipated FA Cup clash.
The Peacocks have already won two games to reach the First Round Qualifying and manager Simon Williams is hopeful the run will not end here and is hoping a big crowd will be present to act as a 12th man.
The boss said: “This is a massive game for us and we are all looking forward to.
“It would be great to see a big crowd down at the ground to cheer us on hopefully into the next round.”
The club have already scooped nearly £2,000 from their cup -run but victory over their Midland Combination opponents would bolster the coffers by a staggering £3,000.
Williams believes a successful run in the most famous domestic cup competition in the world will not just benefit the club’s bank balance but will also lift his players profiles.
He added: “A run in the cup can has its financial rewards and if we were to win this game it would earn us £3,000, which for a club of our side is a lot of cash.
“Equally though the prestige of playing in this competition will have everyone fired up.
“It gives the players a chance to impress on the big stage and lift their profiles.”
Williams is hoping to have a full squad to pick from with the exception of Matty Clarke who still has four games of a 12 game ban to serve.
