IT was a golden week for Halesowen’s Jess Varnish and Jessica Booth at the European Junior Track Championships.
The Halesowen Athletics and Cycling Club (HA&CC) golden girls continued to show off their immense talent as they stormed to victory at the event in Poland.
Varnish picked up winners medals in the 500m Time Trial and the Kieirin.
The 17-year-old cyclist made a strong start to the championships with bronze in the sprint, narrowly being pipped by Barbora Drzkova of Slovakia and Russian Victoria Baranova.
On Friday, Varnish cruised home in the 500m TT by four tenths of a second.
The following day, she retained her Kierin crown with another dominant performance.
Meanwhile, Booth was a member of the the succesful Junior Women’s Team 2000m Pursuit which claimed victory over Belgium in the final.
