Dudley Town’s team spirit has been praised by joint-manager Ian Rowe after they sealed a place in round two of the FA Vase.

The Robins were 2-0 winners over Rothley Imps at the Dell Stadium at the weekend, and in the process earned a £1,000 in prize money as well as a tie at Daventry Town on Saturday November 18.

Town won courtesy of a brace from Danny Ashton but the victory was tinged by joint manager Rob Perks’ dismissal for handling the ball on the line.

The penalty was saved by substitute keeper Gez Thomas, who had to replace an injured James Pemberton.

Rowe was delighted with the win and believed the togetherness of his young side has played a big part in their impressive Vase run.

He said: “We did well and we are delighted to have progressed into the next round.

“It was a game I thought we controlled from start to finish and we thoroughly deserved to win.

“The spirit we have here at the minute is first class and is really driving us forward.

“The Daventry game won’t be easy but we fancy our chances against any side plying their trade at the same level as us or even one above so we will go there with no fear.”
