CAUSEWAY UNITED have been drawn away to Stratford Town in the second round of the FA Vase.

The tie, to be played on Saturday November 15th, pits them against one of the title favourites and was earned with a 3-1 extra time victory at Alvechurch in the first round.

Stratford are three places below Causeway in the table but beat them 2-0 at home in the Birmingham Senior Cup recently.

Causeway left it late, Chris Busby grabbing a 90th minute goal and another one in extra time before Stuart How added a penalty.

Chairman Steve Hulston was delighted with the win, especially as it came on the back of two games without even a goal.

He said: “It’s a pretty tough tie and we recently lost to them in the Birmingham Senior Cup but the attitude we have this season is that we are not afraid of anything or any team.

“So we will go there with confidence and take the game to them.

“This is a vitally important competition for us and all clubs at our levels.

“We have had some very good runs in recent seasons and hope to again which is why I was delighted with the result at Alvechurch.

“We came from behind when most people probably thought Alvechurch had won it.

“That’s the spirit, and the kind of players we have, ones who dig in when the going gets tough.

“We will need that to continue if we are to get a result at Stratford and hopefully will take a few league wins into the game with us.”

Causeway return to league action this Saturday and face a tough test at home to second place Coventry Sphinx at The War Memorial Ground , Stourbridge on Saturday (3pm).
