OLD Halesonians’ up and coming stars once again shone after picking up a 33-10 win Old Silhillians.
The visiting forwards looked sharp from the outset and this paid dividends when James Salder forced his way over the line for the first try of the afternoon, which was converted by Andy Tromans.
Not to be outdone the hosts came back into the game and found a gap on the wide left to score an unconverted try.
Despite Old Hales domination, it was Old Sils who scored next, catching the visiting defence out of position with a quick break and scoring in the corner, but again it was unconverted.
This gave Old Hales a wake up call and they hit back with some wonderful play. A high ball by Old Sils to clear their lines was taken by Tromans on the halfway line and he popped the ball off to Stevie Deakin who made ground and following a couple of passes found Tom Moorhouse in the centre went through a gap shrugging off tackles to score a try converted by Tromans.
Despite Old Hales dominating the line-out through Jake Yeadon there was no more score in the first period.
The visitors started the second half in style and after another great passage of play Lou Martinez went over for a third try, which was again converted by Tromans. Old Hales were now well and truly in the driving seat, dominating the line-outs and the scrums, and Old Sils never really looked like scoring again.
After some deft combination pop up passing by the Old Hales forwards resulted in a further two tries for Old Hales scored by Andy Holloway, which was unconverted and Moorhouse, converted by Stevie Deakin.
