STOURBRIDGE Swimming Club took titles and medals galore at the Worcester County Swimming Championships.

An incredible 58 Stour qualifiers took to the water over two weekends and were involved in some fearsome competition.

With a total of 597 swims between them, they made an amazing 240 age group and championship finals, resulting in a magnificent return of 143 medals.

In the age group finals, top honours went to Becki Cole (10 golds), Tom McCallum (eight golds); Rich Spoor and Sam Tromans (six golds), Nat Dingley (five golds), Brittany Horton (four golds), Ellie Childs and Becky Spoor (two golds) and Megan Dudley, Sophie Page and Myles Pountain (one gold each).

However, in the championship finals, four fabulous swimmers were crowned champions in no fewer than 24 events - with brother and sister Rich and Becky Spoor taking eight titles between them.

Becki Cole won nine out of the ten events she entered with Sam Tromans picking up seven junior titles.

In addition, Rich Spoor and Cole were awarded Worcester county male and female performance trophies.

Stourbridge head coach Stew Nicklin said: “This is just a fantastic achievement from all the swimmers.

“The team support was incredible over both weekends and to walk away with 26 trophies is an amazing result.

“I’m really proud of all of the Stourbridge swimmers, the results are a testament to their hard work and dedication in training.”
